Attention Utah Artists:
You are invited to the Ogden Arts Festival at Union Station
for our 4th annual Plein Air competition being held Thursday June 28th
through Saturday June 30th. This year’s event will host a 2-day
Paint-out beginning Thursday to Friday and a Quick Draw for the Saturday during
the festival.
Schedule of Events:
Friday night Plein Air Paint-out
Registration: Thursday, June 28th, 2007
from 8:30 am to 12:30
pm – You may enter Thursday
or Friday morning during these times.
Location: Ogden Blue - 175 Historic 25th Street, Ogden.
Entry Fee: $25.00
per registered surface due at time of registration (maximum of 2).
Requirements: You
may enter one or two blank surfaces (provided by the artist) for the
Thursday-Friday competition. The back of the painting surface will be stamped
by a committee assistant and verified for contest authentication as paintings
are returned on Friday. Please confirm
that your canvas/paper is stamped and registration forms are complete prior to
leaving the registration area!
Competition begins: As soon as you are registered.
Framing: Finished pieces are required to be properly framed (per medium
standards) and ready for hanging prior to submission. Frames must have proper hanging hardware attached and ready for hanging.
No saw tooth hangers will be accepted.
Boundaries for
this event will be within the Downtown Ogden area; 17th Street to 28th Street
and West Ogden to the Mountain.
Finished entries will
be accepted at the Union Station Grand Lobby during the For Art’s Sake
social, Friday June 29th, from 6
to 7 pm. and placed on Silent Auction.
Saturday Festival Quick Draw
Registration starts:

between 24th and 26th Streets.
Finished entries must
be returned to the Union Station fountain plaza between 12:00 to 12:30
pm Saturday during the festival and will be placed on
Silent Auction.
Judging and Awards
Awards will be
distributed at the Judge’s discretion. All finished pieces will be judged
during a private viewing Saturday afternoon between 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
Prizes will be announced at the awards ceremony at Fountain Plaza
stage starting at 6:00 and
prizes will be awarded as follows:

Silent Auctions will
start as paintings are submitted for entry and end at completion of the live
auction. Each artist should indicate the
minimum amount they will accept for the painting at time of entry. Paintings
that do not meet the minimum bid will be returned to the artist.
Live Auction is
scheduled to begin directly after the festival awards presentation and will
include only the paintings of the winning entries and selected pieces as time
permits.
Sales will be
arranged between the festival committee and the bidder after the live
auction. 70% of the auction proceeds will
go to the Artists and 30% will go back to the festival to cover expenses and/or
carried over to the following year’s event.
Festival Art Work Competition
All plein air competition paintings and submitted festival
artwork will be considered for
a $500.00 Ogden Arts Festival
Committee Selection Award. This award will be given to the selected
painting in exchange for the use of the painting’s image, which will be used
for the promotion of the 2008 Ogden Arts Festival. This award may be combined
with the other awards and if the winning painting is selected it will also be
available during the live auction but the Festival maintains the print rights.
Artists not participating in the plein air competition may
submit entries for consideration during the festival. All entries must be
submitted to the Union Station gift shop Friday night or Saturday by 2:00 pm. A $10.00 submission fee will
be collected and painting will be registered at time of entry. All paintings
will need to be picked up by 5:00 PM
on Saturday.
